About a month ago, we had the annual Sports Day for the Secondary School (think 'School-Wide Track Meet'). The kids are all split up into two teams (Alpha and Beta) and compete against eachother in Track and Field events. While sports are not Kaitlyn's most favorite activities, she did her best and even placed 1st in the girl's Race Walk! :)
The next week was the 8th Grade Play. Every Term 4 the 8th grade has a required Drama class, and the culmination of the class is the play. This year, the class had very specific criteria for what they wanted (medieval, with beautiful flowing dresses and fairly equal parts for all), so one of the members of our community wrote an amazing, hilarious, fun play that fit the bill, and fit their class to a T! :)
While Kaitlyn was busy rehearsing for the play, Nathan was keeping busy learning a poem for the 6th grade Speech Contest. He recited "Please Don't Listen to This Poem" by Kenn Nesbit. He didn't win, but it was fun to hear all the kids.
Then, the following week, the Middle School kids put on a History Museum. Many of the primary school kids took a field trip to the secondary school campus and were entertained by a variety of displays and demonstrations of the Middle Ages. Kaitlyn and her friend Leah were medieval peasant girls who took care of their livestock (the Autoshop goat) and taught us how they lived. The boys loved the catapault that several of Kaitlyn's classmates built.
