So far, our visit has consisted mainly of the regular, day-to-day sorts of activities. We just are having the chance to share them with Mom and Dad! (and they are getting a better taste of what our life here is like, and the craziness that accompanies having 5 kids). =)
We've done stuff like: see Mom and Dad's pictures from their trip to Israel last year. Attend the saxophone recital of the son of friends of mine. Go to the High School's performance of Sherlock Holmes. Attend our weekly Bible studies with us (couples on Tuesday evenings and my women's study on Wednesday mornings). Get to know some of our good friends.
Mainly, we're just doing stuff like hanging out. The kids are getting to spend time with their Grandparents, and I'm SO, SO thankful for that! I have so many fond memories of summers at my Grandma's, or being with family at Christmas and family reunions. But my kids will only have sporadic memories at best, and that makes me sad. So I'm especially thankful for a year like this one, where the kids were able to spend some time with both sets of Grandparents (Matt's parents came to Cairns for Elijah's birth, and mine, here in PNG).
Grandma and Grandpa are getting to do stuff like:
Walk the kids to school
Eat lunch with the kids at the Primary campus each Friday
Spend some special time with each of the kids (the older three are taking turns having sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa's house).
| Can't you just see the family resemblance? ;) |
And lest you think they are just sitting around bored, we put Dad to work, helping Matt build a small fence this past week!
This next weekend we will head to Madang for 4 days for a holiday, and to show them around. That will be lots of fun, and a special end to our time together.

Thanks for this news and pictures! I'm excited for Kurt and Julie. This week we get to be in Phoenix with John & Sarah and their 3. Next month I get to go to Canby for Anna's baby shower. Woo hoo! for being a grandparent :)
