Holiday in Madang, Part 3 (and the last!)

On Sunday, we took Mom and Dad to Jais Aben Resort to go swimming.  They have a (tiny) beach and a small bar/restaurant.  I think the thought of fishies swimming around with her was just too much for Mom and she voted to not get in the water, but they had fun just watching the kids enjoy themselves.

On Monday, our last day, we had hoped to go up and show Mom and Dad around POC.  But it just rained so much over the weekend, and much of Sunday, and all through the night that we decided against it.  We knew the POC Hino hadn't been able to make it up the mountain on Sunday afternoon, and even though the SIL Center had a 4WD vehicle we could have borrowed, the tires on it weren't great.  So we decided to not attempt to slip and slide our way up (and then back down) the mountain.  Too bad, since it would have been fun to show them around, and see our friends who are on staff there.
Instead, we decided to head back to the Resort for one last swim in the afternoon, despite the rain.  However, we were disappointed when we got there to find that signs had been put up and as of that morning, no non-resort guests would be allowed to come swim.  So there went that.  The kids were disappointed, but I was impressed by their good behavior  and lack of whining when we told them that we couldn't swim.
We finished off the day with take out from Eden, a really yummy Chinese restaurant, and watched the last installment of Downton Abby.

Now, these last two pictures really don't have much to do with our time in Madang, but I thought that Dad had got some good pictures of our airstrip and Ukarumpa:
